In 1944 while in Italy, Dr. Garcia met his future bride, Wanda Fusillo.

After the war, Hector and Wanda moved to Corpus Christi, Texas with their first child Daisy Wanda.

The Garcia family soon grew with the birth of a son, Hector Garcia, Jr. in 1948.

A second daughter, Adriana Cecilia joined the family in 1952.

A fourth and final child, Susana Patricia, was born in 1956.

In the late 1950's the Garcia family moved into a new house in an upscale all Anglo neighborhood. "It was one battle after another just living in the house. We had to get an unlisted number, we could not go outside certain times of the day. The children were cruel, as well as a lot of their parents." Cecilia Garcia Akers, daughter
